Created in collaboration with Melbourne artist Nicholas Girling of Printspace, this hand-drawn piece brings together the city skyline, a rattling tram, the MCG, and AAMI Park into a single frame.
The drawing began on the Alamein line, just before Richmond Station, where the city skyline briefly lines up directly above the ’G.
You only catch it from the left side of the train carriage.
A split-second view was reason enough to justify an entire hand-drawn illustration.
There is the skyline above the Yarra, a tram rolling past the gates, and the grandstands sitting exactly where they should be. Melbourne has a habit of arranging its entire suburban geometry around sport.
